Dr. Chandresh Kumar Maurya received the B.Tech. degree in Information Technology from Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow, India, in 2010; the M.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Technology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India, in 2012; and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India, in 2016. His Ph.D. thesis was on anomaly detection in big data.

He is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore), India, since September 2025. Earlier, he was Assistant Professor at IIT Indore (2020–2025) and at the National Institute of Technology Delhi, India (2020); Research Assistant Professor at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest, Hungary (2019–2020); and Research Scientist at IBM Research, Bangalore, India (2017–2019).

His research interests include artificial intelligence, natural language processing, speech processing, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and data mining, with a focus on data stream mining and anomaly detection. His recent work covers speech-to-speech translation, speech-to-text translation, machine translation for low-resource languages, continual learning, time-series analysis, code-mixed sentiment analysis, and EEG-to-text decoding. He has published more than 40 research papers in journals and conferences, and has contributed book chapters on data stream mining and smart transportation. He has five patents, of which four are granted and one is published. At IIT Indore, he has taught courses including Mathematics for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Generative AI, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Parallel Computing, among others. He also taught a course on Data Stream Mining at ELTE University.

He has supervised one Ph.D. thesis and is currently supervising eight Ph.D. students. He has led sponsored research projects funded by the DST, Bosch India, and IIT Indore, currently leads a project supported by the IITI Drishti CPS Foundation, and is a co-investigator in the SAKSHAM project funded by the ANRF. His group has also built working systems, including a speech-to-text translation service that is available online and a proof-of-concept system for intent and entity detection from multilingual voice commands in vehicles, developed with Bosch India.

He received the Prime Minister Fellowship for Doctoral Research, supported by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions (RBEI), and Junior Research Fellowships from IIT Roorkee and the University Grants Commission (UGC), India. He received a special mention award for a poster at Xerox Research Center India (XRCI) in 2016. He serves as Chair of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) Chapter of the Madhya Pradesh Section. He has reviewed papers for journals such as Neurocomputing, Knowledge-Based Systems, and IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, and for conferences including ACL, AAAI, ECML-PKDD, Interspeech, and ICASSP. He has delivered invited talks at several universities and institutes in India, including Jawaharlal Nehru University, NIT Shillong, MNIT Jaipur, and VNIT Nagpur.
